In a remarkable display of intellectual prowess, the School of Accountancy students from Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) recently made a significant mark in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Future Sustainable Leaders (AFSL) Competition 2023 at the National Level.
The AFSL Competition, an online case competition for secondary and tertiary education students, requires participants to submit a 10-minute video proposing solutions to issues related to the United Nations Development Goals. The DWCC team, composed of outstanding students Mark Deo Aboboto, Jamaica Barangas, Juan Gabriel Talens, and Shiekairrah Jasmen A. Velasco, presented their project titled “Balay Siranggan: Ang Lubi Sa Silangan.” The project focused on addressing agricultural sector challenges within the theme of “Living with Sustainability and Inclusiveness.”
Competing against 13 finalists from various colleges and universities across the country, Team Balay Siranggan showcased their intellectual prowess, reflecting months of preparation and dedication to excellence. Their exceptional performance not only demonstrated the bright minds within DWCC School of Accountancy but also highlighted the institution’s commitment to academic excellence on a national scale.
Balay Siranggan clinched the 2nd runner-up position in the competition and received the Most Engaged Video award for their compelling presentation. The team was rewarded with five thousand pesos, an e-certificate, and medals in recognition of their outstanding efforts. The coaching and leadership provided by Mr. Hans Jansen Dimaala, MBA, played a pivotal role in the team’s success.
