On May 6, 2025, representatives from the ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป ๐จ๐ป๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป (๐๐จ ๐๐ข๐ ) ๐๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐, Ms. Madalena Passos (from Portugal) and Mr. Konstantinos Koufaliotis( from Greece), visited Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) and met with College President, Rev. Fr. Renato A. Tampol, SVD, PhD. The courtesy visit included an in-depth interview focusing on the prevailing electoral climate in the province of Mindoro.
As part of their mission to evaluate the conduct and integrity of the 2025 Philippine elections, the EU EOM representatives also attended Tapatan 2025, DWCCโs Candidatesโ Forum held on May 2โ3, 2025. The forum featured candidates vying for gubernatorial, congressional, and mayoral positions. Ms. Passos and Mr. Koufaliotis observed the proceedings to gain insight into local campaign practices and voter engagement efforts.
The EU observers will remain in Mindoro throughout the entire election period to monitor key phases of the electoral process, including campaign activities, voter education efforts, polling day operations, and the post-election environment. Their presence underscores the importance of transparency, inclusivity, and democratic participation at the local level.
